The short version

Protection Paladins have no taunt button in WoW Forever. Instead, while Seal of Fury is active, Judgment taunts the target. Blizzard describes this in its Deep Dive panel recap (opens in a new tab), and the same recap says Paladins still have no dedicated taunt button, no interrupt and no way to slow targets.

Confirmed by Blizzard

  • Seal of Fury is a tank Seal that favours fast weapons and grants small absorb shields. While it is active, Judgment taunts (Deep Dive recap (opens in a new tab)).
  • Swift Judgment can reset Judgment once per minute, so a missed taunt does not end the moment (Deep Dive recap (opens in a new tab)).
  • Casting Judgment no longer consumes your Seal, so there is less recasting (Deep Dive recap (opens in a new tab)).
  • Holy Strike arrives at level 6 and Consecration is baseline at level 20. Consecration deals high damage and threat to the first four targets it hits.
  • 8 October build: Seal of Fury’s Mana return bug was fixed, and Improved Seal of Fury and Shield Specialization no longer generate threat when they restore Mana (beta development notes (opens in a new tab)).
  • 15 October build: Righteous Fury’s Holy damage threat rose to 90% (was 60%), Shield Specialization now returns 4% Mana (was 6%) on the same 3 second internal cooldown, and Seal of Fury Rank 3 is trained at level 26 (was 25). Reckoning now stores up to 4 charges and spends them all on your next melee swing, as in Classic Era (beta development notes (opens in a new tab)).
  • Also on 15 October the Blessing of Salvation and Greater Blessing of Salvation became Salvation and Mass Salvation, which stack with other blessings, and Paladins learn Revoke to remove it from a party or raid member. Consecration’s per-tick Spell Power coefficient fell to 0.042 (was 0.095) (beta development notes (opens in a new tab)).
  • Holy Strike’s cooldown is 12 seconds in the recap and was lowered to 10 seconds in the beta notes, so the notes are the newer number.

Player opinion, not confirmed

Players are debating whether tying the taunt to Judgment feels right. The largest thread, Paladin Taunt being tied to Judgment (opens in a new tab), had 172 replies on 15 October 2026. That is what testers think, not a Blizzard statement. We found no Blizzard post that answers it or announces a change to the taunt.
